Community Garden

Driving down Virginia Street, in Dunedin, Florida, you would never know our garden existed.

It began in November of 2009 when a group of residents, working with officials from the City, organized and leased a little known city park to renovate into a community garden; not your typical plant some flowers and leave it to the city to maintain kind of garden, but rather, one that is productive both socially and economically - one that grows both food and community.

The residents wanted to build stronger connections in their neighborhood, and working together has a way of doing that.

Dunedin Community Garden

501.3c non-profit organization

The mission of the Dunedin Community Garden Association is to enhance the quality of life and strengthen community bonds by creating and sustaining an organic garden that will foster environmental stewardship, horticultural education, and improved health.

Purpose of community  garden

  • Offer organic garden space to the people of Dunedin that share a common interest in gardening
  • Become an educational resource for students, schools, and our community
  • Build community through gardening
  • Expand and improve Dunedin’s green spaces
  • Be an inspiration for a healthier community friendly to humans and wildlife.

What we do

Many of us wish we could grow our own vegetables but may not have a place to grow or the know-how. The Dunedin Community Garden Association (DCGA) is devoted to providing a place where individuals and families can successfully grow fresh, healthy produce and to socialize with other gardeners. The garden is run by a group of dedicated community members that love to garden.
